My trip( Day 9 to Day 10)

Before we left for Auckland, Jinxgirl and I climbed a gigantic tree for the first time. It looked as if it was the tree which sits in the middle of the Hundred Acre Wood.
We went shopping upon reaching Auckland. Then we returned the camper van and checked into the hotel. Then I began typing my blog about my trip to New Zealand.( Yes, the one involving that blasted $2 prepaid Internet access computer that shut down just as I was about to publish my post.).
The next morning, we went to the airport and only returned home after midnight. My Uni friend Caleb was already long since in bed.

My trip( Day 8)

Uncle Patrick was stopped twice. Once for speeding at 65km/h on a 50km/h road and the second time for something too embarrassing to let us know.

Once we reached Waitomo, we bought tickets for the Glowworm Cave. It was breathtaking and looked like Christmas lights. I felt as if I was flying when I saw those beautiful fireflies in the cave and we did not breathe until we were outside the cave.

My trip( Day 7)

It was an 8-hour drive to Wellington so I played my Nintendo DS all the way. Jinxgirl was supposed to be taking a nap but she snuck her Eragon book into the bed where she was supposed to be sleeping and read it when her mother was not looking. ;)

We stopped twice. Once at an army museum where Uncle Patrick stopped to have a look around and the other for lunch at a cafe. Once again, Western cuisine. (sigh)When we finally reached Wellington, we went shopping.(sigh again)

My trip ( Day 6)

After breakfast,we went to a place with lots of ancient Maori history. We saw numerous mud pools, man-made geysers and a river of temperature 600 degrees Celsius!

Uncle Patrick then drove to Taupo Adventure Park where Jinxgirl and I did a fun maze with him. We were the brains, he was the follower. In the end we found our way into the middle of the maze but we did not go down the slide because it was too dark and narrow. It also smelt funny. We had lunch in the cafe.

We also went to another fun maze in Puzzle World before heading down to Huka Falls, the largest volume of water in New Zealand.

Back at the camp, we explored. Uncle Patrick rented a two-seater Go Kart and we had fun on it.

My trip ( Day 5)

I never knew that fishing was so hard! In Singapore, we never go fishing. However, it was a really fun experience because we set off after a breakfast of bread and ham and fished until evening!

A teacher named Uncle Ernest taught us how to cast and retrieve a line. We decided to share a rod. He then taught Uncle Patrick and Aunty Sarah how to do it. After 1 or 2 minutes, both Jinxgirl's parents complained that their arms ached and stopped for a tea break. Jinxgirl refused to eat because the fish might bite while she was eating and she might be too late to stop it from escaping. I agreed with her.

We then headed down to a river in the forest where Jinxgirl and I borrowed waders from Uncle Ernest. Mine was a special type. Although Jinxgirl and I did not catch any fish,Aunty Sarah was so amazed Jinxgirl could stand still for more than 2 hours that she gave Jinxgirl 20 Singapore dollars.

It was quite late so we had dinner at a nearby Thai restaurant. Jinxgirl tried Tom Yum Soup( My favourite) and for the first time, she loved it. Another sign of maturing because she eats much hotter food these days and loves it. We then drove to the Lake Taupo campsite. And yes, once again Jinxgirl swallowed a pill.
